The holiday weekend was packed with lots of fun summer activities including two trips to the ball park to watch the Waterloo Bucks play baseball. Dale and I went on Friday night and enjoyed a very pleasant evening with a great breeze. When we realized that there was a game on Sunday afternoon, Lincoln and Ashley were game to join us for a second ball game. It was a very hot and humid 92 degrees but we had seats in the shade and stayed for only about half the game. Lincoln remembered baseball and he really remembered Buck, the mascot.
He was so excited to see Buck and asked repeatedly for help to go see Buck. Dale carried him down and Lincoln was willing to approach Buck but was careful not to get too close. He really does love Buck and Buck does a great job, just waiting patiently to see if Lincoln wants to approach. He even sat down on the ground and waited for Lincoln. Even in the heat, I was thrilled to be there.
After that very hot baseball game we thought it was a perfect time for ice cream. I had never gone for ice cream with Lincoln so it was fun to share with him. I wasn't surprised at how much he loved ice cream but it was still special to share that summer pastime with him. Ice cream and baseball made for a wonderful Sunday afternoon!
